Dual Variable Transformer Controller
(text later 2/14/03, leaving for the Coast! one of these days... 5/13/03)
(6/1/03 added a wee bit of text...6/3/03 a bit more...)
The unit independently controls two ac outlets. One with 10amp continuous load rating - 20amp 45min load rating, the other 1amp continuous rating for the fan. Chose the enclosure size for travel, Caffe' Rosto fits right inside!

All parts acquired, laid out and ready to begin assembly. The Powerstat 10amp variable transformer is already mounted. You can see the five bolt head around the black dial on the left top front.

The top right switch is Master On enable. Bottom right switch turns on fan dimmer circuit and simultaneously enables fan timer switch and heater circuit. Middle right switch turns on fan timer. Bottom left switch turns on heater circuit and enables heater timer switch. Top left switch turns on heater timer. All switches 250v 15A rated double pole double throw parallel wired for redundancy.

Coming together... used the same wiring for the transformer boost dimmer control with 1/2 ac diode by-pass. Same as previous stand alone version.

Lights from left to right: red heater timer on, red heater on, green master on, amber fan on, amber fan timer on. The switch above the AC volt meter toggles between monitoring heater/fan voltage output sources. Top left & right corners are ac switch dial timers. I use the fan timer for cooling. Haven't used the heater timer but figured include it in the design!

Wiring it all together...

Left dark outlet heater, right light outlet fan. (Kind of match respective control dials:-) Fully completed. You might notice I broke the cover lens on the Yokogawa AC digital voltmeter during construction, replaced.

Shows 125v fan output.

Completely wired!

Shown packed ready to hit the road...

Each valve back is labeled and filled with 1/3# greens for later roasting at the beach. Bring greens to roast for a couple friends too.

Sitting outside our motel room on the balcony roasting...
