Saturday's Agenda

Our doors will "officially" open at 10AM. Unless of course you are already here! Or still here from Friday night or... In which case we'll be here but who knows in what state of mind or attire!

Noon to 2PMish visiting Stumptown Coffee touring roasting operation and getting cupping edumacation and play. Address is 3377 SE Division St Porland, OR (click for map) Parking is limited so if at all possible meet at our house and we'll car pool, about 20min drive. Will leave our house 11:30AM.

2PMish we'll travel down the road 12 blocks to Stumptown's first Cafe at 4525 SE Division ST, the Cafe with the two Probats looking you in the eye as you walk in the door! If you've never experienced really good shots of espresso you'll have the chance to watch their ACE Baristas in action and taste for yourself a fine example of what espresso is meant to be.

Around 4pm we'll head back to our house for more coffee play, all kinds of munchies including veggie trays and home made dips Dave Nielson is bringing and my array of smoked cheeses, crackers etc. Later, probably around 7pm or so, a true low & slow Q feast of apple/hickory/maple smoked pulled pork, hickory/mesquite smoked beef brisket, cherry smoked chicken grill finished with an apricot honey mustard glaze. Accompanied by coleslaw, 4 bean salad, potato salad and baked beans. Desert choices will include (but not necessarily be limited to) cherry crisp with a cinnamon nutmeg spiced oatmeal almond top, Chocolate Alchemy flourless mocha torte topped with Kona infused whipped cream (Turkish ground Kona used in making the whipped cream:-), 'nilla ice-cream for cherry crisp alamode or Kona mocha hot fudge sundaes or cherry crisp alamode topped with Kona mocha hot fudge and Kona infused whipped cream whatever you want to call it! (Death by Cherry Chocolate Kona Fudge?)

RSVP ASAP  with total number attending Stumptown Tour AND total number coming to our house for coffee play and Q feast to mcKoffee@quixnet.net Please include any special dietary requirements (Like vegetarian or vegan [and specify if includes milk & eggs in cooking] or food allergies like to nuts)

Debi & I have discussed it. As long as you're aware our home is NOT child proofed and children are your responsibility they are welcome! Bring their favorite DVD movies if you so desire, we have a 55" with M&K 5.1 Theater Sound, kept them happy last time.

Nearby Hotel/Motels: lots of online sources, here's one search of hotels within 5miles I can save! http://makeashorterlink.com/?T23F125A3

Or a really nice place nearby that search doesn't bring up. The Heathman Lodge

We will have our following brewing tools available: Miss Silvia, 1.5 liter Bodum Electric Santos Vacuum Brewer, .75 liter Bodum Electric Santos, four 12oz Bodum Chambord French Presses for cuppings or whatever, 32oz Chambord FP with SwissGold fine filter press, 32oz Brazil FP (unbreakable polycarbonate beaker we use for travel), 12 tasse Stainless Steel "Amore" Moka Pot, and of course the Royal Versailles Gold Plated Balance Brewer! Grinding honors go to Rocky or for the more ambitious our travel Zassenhaus Turkish Mill. We do also have a La Pavoni *mill coffee grinder* you can use (you know, whirly chopper) but it might make your coffee taste like BBQ rub! (it's real purpose in life, herbs & spices)

There'll be plenty of hot water supplied by 200°f filtered hot water on demand (I use it daily for Americanos), 48oz Bodum Ibis electric cordless kettle and of course can heat water on the Viking.

I'll setup up space and a make shift "counter height" table on the deck for those bringing their espresso machines and grinders. There's a dedicated 20A plug plus can run an extension cord from my garage roasting dedicated 20A so power should be ok.

Coffee comparisons of same coffees roasted by different people is being planned I believe. Greg volunteered to coordinate this. gregdhumphreys@comcast.net (Info' to be added)

Likely could be should be more info' or something but that's all I can think of  for now.

I took new pictures after picking up the etched demi-mugs. The etching shows up better with something in them. Those are some mélange City FC roasted KPC Kona.

(Click on first picture for a QuickTime movie of a shot being pulled from some of those beans! Just in case you don't have broadband I'll warn you it's about 8M.)

All the demis are packed, they're ready to go
They're sittin' here right by the door
They yearn to see you soon and say good-bye

And they're leaving on a jet plane
They won't be coming be back again
Off to find their god shots bye and bye

Twenty-three boxes of demi-mugs being shipped are all packaged with shipping/postage labels printed and ready to run to the Post Office tomorrow- Monday 5/23/05!
